Opportunities

Postdoctoral Scholars

We do not have funded openings for postdocs in the group at this time. However, if you are interested in writing fellowship applications or otherwise applying for external support, please reach out to Dr. Riley Culberg at rtculberg@cornell.edu.

Graduate Students

We are currently recruiting graduate students for Fall 2026 admissions! We have a newly funded project from NSF in collaboration with colleagues at Syracuse University and Cornell to study the connectivity of the subglacial drainage system in the Western Greenland ablation zone with a variety of geophysical methods.

Prospective students should reach out to Dr. Riley Culberg at rtculberg@cornell.edu to discuss opportunities. Please include your CV and briefly described how your research interests and experiences align with the core research areas of our group and what you hope to gain from a graduate degree in glaciology.

Students with interests or experience in any of the following are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • Geophysical glaciology
  • Ice sheet hydrology
  • Radar geophysics and/or radar remote sensing
  • Near-surface and hydrogeophysics
  • Signal processing
  • Applied and/or computational electromagnetics
  • Multiphase flow in porous media and/or poromechanics

More information on the Geological Sciences Graduate Program is available here. General information on the graduate admissions process at Cornell is available here.

Undergraduate Students

We welcome undergraduate students interested in completing an independent study or honors thesis in our group. Students should contact Dr. Riley Culberg at rtculberg@cornell.edu to discuss projects and opportunities.
We also work with undergraduate students through summer research programs such as CorGGLE, the Nexus Scholars Program, the College of Engineering Student Grants Program, and the LSAMP REU program.
